Rugby-mad couple Eddie and Diane Lincoln kicked off their marriage in style last month, with a Falcons-themed wedding cake.

The pair were wed on May 22, and sought assistance from specialist cake-makers in coming up with their design.

"It took weeks of correspondence with the company to get the look just right, but we think they did a fantastic job and the finished product looked great," said Eddie.

Falcons head coach Alan Tait said: "It's marvellous the lengths that our supporters will go to in showing their love for the club, and it brought a real smile to my face when I saw the photos that Eddie and Diane had sent in.

"I have to admit I'm a bit of a cake man myself every now and again, but I think I'd feel a bit guilty cutting into this masterpiece after the time and attention they've taken over it!"
