Tait relishing cup semi final

Newcastle Falcons boss Alan Tait spoke of his delight at progressing through to the semi final of the LV= Cup, following his side's 17-3 victory over Exeter at Kingston Park on Sunday.

Tait’s troops ran in two late tries to seal their place in the last four. And the Scotsman believes this confidence boosting victory will be good for morale going in to a series of crucial Aviva Premiership games.

“This win has done us the world of good and we can achieve something special as a group of players,” Tait told the gathering media.

“This group of players, come the end of the season will all be remembered for their achievements and what they’ve put in this season. There will be players that move on and there will be new players coming in like there are every season, but they’ve now got a real chance to win a trophy for this club,” he added.

With a semi final against Harlequins beckoning for the northeasterners, Tait is licking his lips at the prospect of a possible showpiece final with the Falcons.

Tait said: “You don’t experience semi finals much in your career especially when you’ve got teams like Leicester and Northampton in the mix. To get the chance to play in a semi final is good for the club.

“We will go down there and take them on in their own backyard and the boys will be really looking forward to the challenge.
