The Falcons Supporters Club is hosting a talk-in with members of the Falcons academy and Community Foundation teams on Wednesday October 7 at Kingston Park.
Starting at 7pm in the East Stand downstairs Hiding Place bar, the event is free of charge to attend for all.Speaking at the evening will be academy director Mark Laycock, apprentice scheme tutor Ed Midcalf, community manager Melanie Magee, community coach Gavin Beasley and a number of academy players.
After giving brief presentations on how the academy and community departments operate, they will then open up for questions from the floor.
Melanie attended the Supporters Club Committee meeting earlier in the month, and members were all surprised and impressed by how much the Foundation does for the community, what it is all about, and how it actually is self-funded rather than receiving hand-outs from the club, which is a popular misconception.
They encourage campaigns against bullying in schools, also the Show Racism the Red Card initiative, encourage healthy eating and drink awareness programmes. Of course, in addition to all of this, they run various rugby courses and coaching camps during the season.
The Community Foundation is the Supporters Club chosen charity this season, and so are looking to raise money for the Foundation’s projects.
This talk-in is free admission to everyone, not just Supporters Club Members, so bring along your family and friends.
There will be a raffle on the night with the Community Foundation providing the prizes. So all we need is your support! If you can make this one, please come along, emailing margaret.smithurst@nepia.com with the numbers of attendees.
