Following a lunch time pitch inspection at Kingston Park, today's Aviva Premiership Rugby match between Newcastle Falcons and Leeds Carnegie has been postponed.
Despite the investment of time, money and the valiant efforts of the ground staff and volunteers, Premier Rugby has deemed the pitch unplayable.Commercial director Mark Foster, said: “Everyone has worked incredibly hard to get today’s game to go ahead. We have consulted constantly with Premier Rugby, the independent contractors who have supplied the heated dome and local experts and have been positive throughout the last few days about getting the game played.
“But despite investing a lot of time and resource, unfortunately the weather has beaten us and the game has had to be postponed. I would like to thank all those who helped in trying to get the pitch fit for play today and we apologise to fans for the late notice.”
