Michael Tait opened the scoring early on for the Falcons, as the Scot applied an impressive outside break to ruthlessly exploit a two-on-one opportunity for a converted try.
Hall Charlton was next over the try line as the fit-again scrum half latched on to Danny Williams’ break to double the lead, before the sheer pace of Tait saw the Scot fly in for his second and third in quick succession as he claimed a first-half hat-trick and a 24-0 lead.
Scottish international Ally Hogg marked his arrival with a try as Gcobani Bobo stepped and weaved to lay the score on a plate, Hogg even adding the conversion from out wide on the right hand side.
Kieran Brookes got in on the act as he showed fine pace to support a Danny Williams line break to score, before Gcobani Bobo ran in a brace and Ally Hogg went the length to rack up the half century.

The Falcons were in front in the opening minute as Alex Tait latched on to a Joel Hodgson pass to score in the right hand corner, followed shortly after by Charlie Amesbury as the winger finished off a slick handling move.
Grant Shiells was next over as the prop finished off a flowing move which saw skipper James Hudson and Amesbury link neatly down the blindside, and with half-time approaching there was still time for one more score as Hudson’s flip pass found scrum half Chris Pilgrim for a 24-0 interval lead.
Amesbury got the second-half scoring underway as he grabbed his second from an Alex Tait pass, and the former Harlequin completed his hat-trick shortly after as Pilgrim put him away in the right corner. Brent Wilson raced 50 metres through a gap for a superb set-move score off scrum ball, with Rob Vickers the next over on a fine supporting line. The hooker’s missed conversion, however, saw his side just miss out on the half century.
NEWCASTLE SILVER 12 BLAYDON 10
Just as they had done in their opening game Blaydon upset the odds by scoring first, Gavin Jones earning due rewards as he crossed after fine support play for a converted try.
Amid driving rain and wind a scrappy finish to the opening half ensued, with a flurry of punches seeing skippers Rob Vickerman and Tom Rock both dispatched to the sin bin as Blaydon led 7-0 at the break.
Ed Yanton extended the Blaydon lead to ten points as he dinked over a drop goal from a close range penalty, but the Falcons hit back with a flowing 50-metre move as Kieran Brooke’s bullocking run eventually saw Gcobani Bobo cross in the right corner.
And it was the Bobo/Brookes combination which eventually decided the game, Brookes racing down the right wing before feeding the South African for a second try down the right hand side. Neat footwork from Bobo behind the try line saw him make the conversion significantly easier, as he slotted over the decisive drop goal with the very last kick to snatch victory.
BLAYDON 57 TYNEDALE 5
Blaydon opened the scoring against their National One rivals inside the first two minutes, as Dan Kyle latched on to a fine break from Robbie Kalbraier to collect the inside ball for a converted try.
Keith Laughlin was next over for a dominant Blaydon side, with Andrew Baggett showing a clean pair of heels to the Tynedale defence for the third try and a 19-0 lead. Matt Green extended that to 26 before the break as gaps continued to appear in the Tynedale defence, Paddy Dias poaching the next score as he played a good advantage from a midfield knock-on.
Player-coach Tom Rock sniped in for a crafty try from a quick tap penalty to take the total to 40 points, but Tynedale grabbed a popular consolation score through front rower Juan Sorrequieta to finally get on the board for the day. Despite that minor blip Blaydon still had plenty in reserve, Matt Hall, Chris Wearmouth and John Embleton all adding late tries to sail past the half century.

The final game of the day saw the eagerly-anticipated match-up between the two Falcons sides, as the Blacks and Silvers did battle.

Grant Shiells doubled the lead as he latched on to Glen Townson’s line break to score, but the Silvers drew the deficit back as Ally Hogg raced in to the left corner. The Scot added further gloss as he drilled a touchline conversion in off the right post, reducing the lead to 12-7 at the interval.
Charlie Amesbury extended the Blacks’ lead with an 80-metre solo score, and centre James Fitzpatrick saw them further ahead with a short blindside run-in.
Hall Charlton hit back for the Silvers as he wriggled over for a try after Will Welch’s line break and link play, and Michael Tait pulled the gap back to five with a well-taken finish in the right corner.
