Newcastle Falcons hero Micky Ward is kicking off his testimonial year with a family fun day on Sunday September 5.

The Kingston Park favourite and dad-of-two will be hosting the fun day extravaganza at Burnside Business and Enterprise College in Wallsend, the college he attended as a youngster.

The Newcastle Falcons prop forward wanted to launch his Testimonial Year activities with a fun day all the family could enjoy, and has a whole host of activities lined up for the day.

The fun includes rugby games with Newcastle Falcons Foundation stars, football skills and games galore with Newcastle United Football Club, watch team mascots battling it out in the Mascot Race, Fire engine and Police displays, bouncy castles, cake stand, hair braiding, face painting, BBQ and lots more. And if that’s not enough there’ll be plenty of sporting stars about to meet and get their autographs.

Micky, who lives in Wallsend with his partner Kimberley and daughters Lola (3) and Sophie (10 months), said: “We’re really excited about the day which is going to be great for all the family whatever the weather!

"There’s going to be lots of fun and games to be had by everyone, so come along and join us. It’s going to be a fantastic day and one to remember.”

The Falcons stalwart has begun his 13th season playing for the club during which time he has made an incredible 265 appearances on the pitch. This year will see him taking up a new role combining coaching alongside playing duties.

Micky, 31, has also toured New Zealand and Argentina with England under 21s and travelled to Canada with the England Saxons in 2004 and 2006. He played for the England v The Barbarians in 2005.

The testimonial year will celebrate prop forward Micky’s outstanding contribution to the sport and support his chosen charities, the Wooden Spoon and Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres North East.

Micky Ward’s Testimonial Year Fun Day has FREE entry and starts at 12 noon until 4pm. Donations are welcomed for all activities.
