24 teams from across the region participated in the under-10s Falcons Cup prior to Saturday’s Amlin Challenge Cup game against Lyon.
Teams competed in the group stages on the West pitch with the final taking place on the hallow Kingston Park turf during half-time of the European match.
Falcons players Tom Catterick and Darren Fearn were on hand for last minute tips and photos throughout the tournament.
Semi-finalists were Carlisle v Northern Warriors and Morpeth Monsters v Tynedale.
The final was contested by Northern Warriors and Morpeth Monsters with Morpeth running out the winners. They were presented with their trophy and medals by Falcons players Adriaan Fondse and Richard Mayhew.
The competition proved a hit with more than 250 youngsters, 50 coaches and more than 500 parents attending the event which was free to enter.
There was also an under-9s Falcons Schools Tag competition which saw 10 teams participating from local schools.
A similar format to the Falcons Cup, all players who took part paraded around the pitch and were given free tickets to the Lyon game.
Semi-finalists were Rock Hall School v Benton Dene Primary School and Newcastle School for Boys v Ivy Road Primary.
Rock Hall School and Newcastle School for Boys went head to head in the final with Newcastle School for Boys victors. They were presented with the trophy and medals by Fondse and Mayhew Snr.
