Jimmy Gopperth has issued a rallying cry ahead of this Friday’s Aviva Premiership showdown under the lights at Kingston Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Falcons talisman who has skippered the side in the absence of James Hudson is appealing to fans to turn up in their droves and support the fight-back.

“It is such an important game for us and we really appreciate the fans support so hopefully everyone can come down to Kingston Park on Friday night and support us,” Gopperth told Falcons TV.

The Kiwi No. 10 added: “It is a huge match and one that we are eager to win and move up the Aviva Premiership table. The weekend result at Leicester was a bit of a blip in our campaign and we know what we have done wrong – we really want to go out and get a win on Friday night.”

Gary Gold’s rejuvenated outfit have turned a corner in recent weeks despite the weekend loss at Leicester, which is the only blot on the South African’s copybook.

Victory over Quins will make it back-to-back home triumphs following last week’s hard-fought win against London Irish.

And the goal-kicking sensation has been impressed with the incoming coaching trio of Gary Gold, Mike Ford and John Wells, whom he feels have injected a new-found belief into the side.

Gopperth said: “The new coaches have come into the club with some great ideas and they have trained us really hard. I think everyone has seen significant improvements in our game and Friday is another chance to showcase that.

“There is nothing better than playing in front of a massive crowd at Kingston Park and I cannot wait for the challenge.”

Tickets are still available for the game by calling the Falcons Ticket Hotline on 0871 226 6060 or click here to purchase online.
