Newcastle Falcons' Chris Harris made a winning debut for Scotland on Saturday as they enjoyed a 44-38 victory over Samoa.

The centre played the last quarter of the Murrayfield encounter, Scotland now moving on to play against world champions New Zealand on Saturday.

The Falcons had three players on duty for Canada on Saturday as they fell 54-22 to Georgia. Centre DTH van der Merwe scored one of Canada's tries in Tbilisi, Jake Ilnicki starting at tight-head prop and Evan Olmstead packing down at lock for a Canadian side who will face Spain in Madrid this Saturday.

Falcons wing Vereniki Goneva was on the bench for Fiji as they fell 19-10 to Italy in Catania, playing 36 minutes of the game. Fiji's next assignment sees them playing Ireland on Saturday.

Scrum-half Sonatane Takulua captained Tonga in Friday's 27-24 loss to the Barbarians in Limerick, kicking two conversions. The Ikale Tahi now move on to face Japan in Toulouse on Saturday.

Nick Civetta's USA, meanwhile, will face Germany on Saturday in Wiesbaden.
