Newcastle Falcons star Jimmy Gopperth has backed the campaign to fill Kingston Park for this Friday’s Aviva Premiership clash against Worcester Warriors (kick-off 7.45pm).
Tickets have been reduced for this weekend’s showdown priced at only £10 adults and £5 juniors, a move which comes on the back of Semore Kurdi becoming the club’s new majority stakeholder.
Gopperth wants fans to show their support for the North East’s premier rugby club by not only buying a ticket for the game but by signing up to the Falcons Facebook page which is now closing in on 5,000 likes.
There you will get the latest news right from the heart of Kingston Park including player interviews, features and exclusive Falcons TV footage in the build up to the game.
Not only that we will be posting competitions on there for your chance to win a pair of tickets to the game plus free entry to the Players’ Lounge after the match.
The club’s Facebook page has proved a hit with fans in recent months with a significant rise in its users as the page grows in stature.
Now the Kiwi goal-kicking sensation is asking fans to sign up to the Falcons social media page and be the 16th man to give the club some added fire-power ahead of a string of key home games.
“It’s hugely important that we get a good turn-out next week,” said Gopperth who has scooped the Aviva Premiership Golden Boot Award for the last two seasons running.
“Getting a packed house at Kingston Park again is one of the club’s ambitions as we strive to get to where we want to be.
“Our fans are very passionate and are an absolute credit to the club. I ask the North East and Cumbrian public to come and enjoy a night at the rugby.
“We heard how packed it was for the ‘Entertainers’ football match a few weeks ago and people said that the atmosphere was electric. If our fans can be as loud as they are with only 4,000 at a game, then to get 10,000 would be absolutely outstanding – the boys would really appreciate it,” he added.
Gopperth’s message to the public is clear – spare a tenner and come and support your local team as Friday night rugby makes a return under the lights of Kingston Park.
He said: “Get down and support the boys as it’s going to be a cracking match. The boys are really looking forward to putting a shift in against Worcester and a good result could really kick-start our season.
“The more fans that we get down for the game the bigger we will grow as characters on the field.”
With the return of Friday night rugby to Kingston Park there will be an array of match day entertainment on offer including a big screen so you will not miss a thing.
News on the entertainment will follow shortly.
