A full-time job opportunity has come up at Gosforth Academy for a "Community Sports Development Officer / Rugby Scheme Manager (AASE)" from September 2012 onwards for two years in the first instance.
The newly - built Sport at Gosforth complex opened in June 2011. This exciting facility comprises an 11- a- side synthetic turf pitch, 6 -court sports hall, climbing wall, fitness studio, refurbished gymnasium and dance studio. It also offers meeting/conference rooms, catering facilities and a café.
The centre is open to the community for evening, weekend and school holiday use. Gosforth Academy has a strong working relationship with Newcastle Falcons and has delivered the AASE Scheme for the past four years. This is an individually tailored education and rugby programme for talented 16-18 year olds who demonstrate the potential to become professional. The Newcastle Falcons Academy is one of fourteen RFU endorsed Regional Academies based around the country and the AASE Scheme is an important strand of the Academy pathway.
Gosforth Academy are seeking to employ a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic individual to work with the Sport@Gosforth team and Newcastle Falcons in the above post.
The role involves:
¨ Contributing to the overall management and running of Sport@Gosforth Sports Centre.
¨ Contributing to the further development of our community sports programme.
¨ Managing the Newcastle Falcons Rugby scheme.
¨ Managing rugby provision for Gosforth Federated Academies.
