Premiership charge: Tim Swinson believes win will breed confidence
Premiership charge: Tim Swinson believes win will breed confidence

A shattered Tim Swinson spoke to Falcons TV following his sides' hard-fought 15-10 triumph over London Wasps at Kingston Park on Sunday.

A performance oozing with passion and commitment earned the 24-year-old the man-of-the-match award, which was voted for by match sponsor Eurohostel.

The London-born lock cut an exhausted figure on pitch side after the game and now insists that the club should use this result as a springboard going into a string of crucial Aviva Premiership matches.

Swinson told Falcons TV: “It’s good to finally win but let’s hope that this is the first and not the last. It’s good to celebrate in there but now we need to get ready for next week.”

Newcastle continue their Premiership charge at Saracens this Sunday before opening their LV= Cup campaign against Cardiff Blues at Kingston Park the following week.

After a trip to London Irish in the LV= Cup on Sunday 23 October, Alan Tait’s men return to domestic action with crucial games against Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors.

“We are a new team with a new set-up and this season we have started a fresh here at Kingston Park,” said Swinson.

“It is great to get the first win under our belt. The new signings have changed things up a bit and they have interacted well as a team,” he added.
