Andy studied medicine at Newcastle University, qualifying in 1988 and was captain of Medicals RFC 1986-87.

He trained as a GP in the North-East, finishing with a membership of Royal College of GP's in 1993. He then got a partnership at the Park Medical Group in Fawdon and Kingston Park where he still works as a full time partner.

He is GP with a special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine and practices one day a week in South Shields, at the South Tyneside Intermediate Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment service.Andy has a postgraduate diploma in Sports and Exercise medicine from the University of Bath and is a member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, a branch of the Royal College of Physicians.

Andy has worked at The Falcons since August 2001.
