Alex Codling departs Newcastle Falcons
After seven months at the Tyneside club, Alex Codling has left his role as head coach at Newcastle Falcons.
Codling joined the Falcons in the summer of 2023 from then Pro D2 side, Oyonnax Rugby, where as a forwards coach helped earn the side promotion to the top tier of French club rugby.
The former Harlequins, Saracens and Montpellier lock oversaw four victories for the Falcons in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Ampthill, Bedford Blues, Sale Sharks and Caldy Rugby, and was fundamental in organising the club’s first True North Origin event.
Speaking on Alex’s departure, Matt Thompson, chairman of rugby, said: “I would like to thank Alex Codling for all the hard work he has put in during his time as head coach and wish him every success for the future.”
Codling said: “I have loved working with the squad this season and seeing the young players grow week on week in the Falcons jersey.
“I would like to personally thank the supporters for their backing of the team and wish them and everyone associated with the club the very best for the future.”
