Alzheimer’s Society match day: Positives off the pitch despite defeat
The Falcons may have fallen to a 24-3 defeat against Bristol Bears, but there was a real victory off the pitch as fans and players united in support of the incredible Alzheimer’s Society.
Fundraising efforts were in full swing from the moment fans arrived at the stadium, with bucket collections taking place around the ground. Supporters gave generously, knowing that every donation would help further the Alzheimer’s Society’s critical work in fighting dementia.
Prior to kick-off we were delighted to welcome lifelong supporter and star of our recent kit launch, Barry Stidolph, to the field for a pre-match interview. Barry, who has a personal connection to the Alzheimer’s Society, spoke openly about his journey and the importance of supporting those affected by the condition.
In a poignant tribute to those lost to dementia, a forget-me-not flower message wall was set up by the fantastic charity, allowing fans to donate and write heartfelt messages to loved ones affected by the disease.
For those who weren’t able to donate on the day, the support doesn’t have to stop there. Contributions can still be made online via our JustGiving page, ensuring that the Alzheimer’s Society can continue its vital work in research, care, and support for those affected by the condition.
Although the result on the pitch wasn’t what we had hoped for, the day showed how our fans came together to support an important cause that touches so many families.
