Over the eight weeks of competition at Kingston Park more than 1,200 tries were scored in 590 games, with both males and females taking part in this fast, fun format.

The main Cup competition was won by The Vests (pictured), with Mcool and the Gang taking the second-tier Shield. Next up was the Plate where RG Bargy were victorious, the Bowl being won by Ward Hadaway while Must Tag Sally were tie-break winners in the fifth-tier Trophy.

The touch season had started back in May with Touch in the Park, a ‘pitch up and play’ event ran by both the RFU and the Falcons community Foundation at Paddy Freeman’s Park in Gosforth.

Eight weeks of competitive action in the Ward Hadaway competition followed – the first seven weeks seeing all 24 teams play against each other before being ranked and split for finals night in the eighth week.

Two sessions still remain in the Ward Hadaway Summer of Touch, the first on August 9 when there is a transitional session for participants who want to return to rugby or try rugby for the first time.

The final event of the summer is a touch tournament on August 13 at Tynemouth’s Longsands beach.
