The Newcastle Rugby Foundation is offering young people the opportunity to take the first steps towards becoming a qualified fitness instructor from September, with the award-winning HITZ programme.

Using rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship, HITZ offers a relaxed learning environment to students aged between 16 – 19-years-old and for the upcoming year, will help those on the course gain an Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction.

Offering valuable work experience along with the opportunity to sample a wide range of different sports and activities, those on the course will at its completion be able to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment.

Lunches are provided and travel expenses are covered with sessions taking place at Kingston Park Stadium and at various other sites around Newcastle and Tyne & Wear.

HITZ participants regularly say they have improved self-confidence and life goals as a result of their involvement, and over 70% go on to achieve a positive progression into further education, training or employment.
