Attendances on the up for Newcastle Falcons

With a significant break in the calendar fast approaching and the club’s next competitive home fixture not scheduled until Friday March 29 against Leicester Tigers, there is an opportunity to reflect on some positives from the season so far.

The main one being the incredible support shown this season for North East England’s only Gallagher Premiership side.

Despite struggling on the pitch for results, Newcastle Falcons have seen improved attendances across all competitions in comparison to the season before.

In the Gallagher Premiership when compared to the same point last season (after six home fixtures), the Falcons have seen an increase of 17% of supporters through the gate.

A 2023/24 season-high attendance was recorded at the Falcons’ last home league outing against Harlequins, where 6,204 rocked up at Kingston Park under the Friday night lights.

The Premiership Rugby Cup also recorded positive attendances, where the average crowd increased by 61% from the previous season.

The highest attended Premiership Rugby Cup tie saw 4,214 of the Falcons faithful cheer on the lads as they cruised to a 66-13 victory over Championship side, Caldy RFC.

The fantastic support continued when the club embarked on its EPCR Challenge Cup journey.

When comparing to the 2022/23 campaign the total attendance for our European fixtures at Kingston Park increased by 19%, the highlight being the 3,802-strong crowd joining us in a fierce battle against French giants Montpellier.

The True North family have been incredible in backing the squad, and on behalf of everyone at Newcastle Falcons, we cannot thank you enough.

The appetite for rugby in the North East is growing, and we cannot wait to welcome you all back to Kingston Park in the future.

Newcastle Falcons’ next home game is a cross-border friendly against Edinburgh on Friday February 9, with tickets for the 7:45pm kick-off are available to purchase now.
