Balanced side pleases Richards

Newcastle Falcons have announced a side showing five changes to their side against Exeter Chiefs as the travel to Sixways this weekend, with Dean Richards selecting a side packed with experience as the club aim to record a first win of the season.

Three changes have come in the backs, with Juan Pablo Socino and Chris Harris taking over the centre berths and Samoan powerhouse Alesana Tuilagi taking up station on the left wing while Rob Vickers and Kane Thompson come in to the pack.

Explaining the selection, Richards reveals whilst some of the changes were enforced, the side announced has a balanced feel

“We’ve got a balanced back line out this weekend, Juan Pablo comes back at inside centre and will offer what I think everyone who knows him well expects. It’s nice for him to come in and give us that direction at 12 and with Powelly nursing a knock from last week, its timely as well.”

“Alongside him is Chris Harris and we are expecting them to be a good pairing while Taity drops to fullback with Hammers out with a knock he picked up against Exeter. That brings Alesana in who had a week off against Exeter and he’ll bring all of his vast wealth of experience into the side.”

“Bobby Vickers comes in on the front row after benching last week and Kane comes back having recovered from his injury that he picked up while away with Samoa at the World Cup, and it’s nice to welcome those two boys back in.”
