The 23-year-old academy graduate won his fifth England cap in the Twickenham clash, playing the first hour of the game.

Fellow forward Marco Fuser was also victorious on the international front, starting for Italy as they defeated Uruguay in Parma on Saturday.

The 30-year-old won his 35th cap for the Azzurri in their 17-10 home victory.

Mateo Carreras, meanwhile, scored a try for Argentina on Sunday for the second week running.

The Falcons winger dotted down the first try at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium before leaving the field through injury during the first half of Los Pumas’ 53-7 defeat.

Newcastle’s international contingent will now return to their club ahead of Friday night’s visit of Worcester Warriors.
