The 24-year-old has been capped five times by England, playing in their autumn clean sweep against South Africa, Australia and Tonga.

Blamire will form part of England’s 36-man group for next week’s five-day camp in Brighton, which gets underway on Monday.

England open their Guinness Six Nations account away to Scotland on Saturday February 5.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Over the past year we have had a large number of our homegrown players involved with England, which is a great endorsement of what we are doing as a club.

“Jamie has acquitted himself well in that environment, and I am sure he will continue to do so.

“We will have a group of players who will obviously be determined to get back into the squad, having had a taste of it within the past year, and they will know they are still very much on the radar if they keep doing the right things at club level.”

Newcastle Falcons’ next home game is on Saturday January 29 when Gloucester are the Gallagher Premiership visitors to Kingston Park Stadium.
