Following the successful completion of BT Supporter’s Club Something to Chew on programme, BT Sport came to Newcastle to visit one participating school Emmaville Primary in Crawcrook last week.

As part of their My Extra Time initiative, BT Supporter’s club ambassador Graeme Swann also took part in the visit and worked alongside the children in their healthy eating and rugby activity.

Newcastle Falcons players Andy Tuilagi, Brian Tuilagi, Andy Saull and Uili Kolo’ofai were on hand to lend their knowledge on a balanced diet and teach Graeme how to tackle!

The day began with a session on healthy sandwich making for the kids, and then moved on to taste test competitions with the players and their teams to guess the food using questions from the eat well plate.

After the session in the classroom, the kids and sports stars took to the hall for a practical session in rugby games and a demonstration by our own Brian Tuilagi on how to tackle.

Graeme Swann got the full force of the youngest Tuilagi before taking the chance to get his own back with an impressive performance!

Newcastle Falcons would like to thank all of the staff and pupils at Emmaville for their help and an amazing day of rugby with Premiership Rugby and BT Sport.

Melanie Magee, Head of Community and Marketing at the Falcons said: “Something to Chew On allows us the opportunity to highlight the importance of healthy eating working in partnership with Public Health England and BT Supporters Club. A visit like the one to Emmaville allows us to underline and reinforce the message delivered by the teachers and the programme by showcasing our players in person. The four boys who came along were brilliant and really made the day a fun filled visit which the school said the children thoroughly enjoyed.”
