CARDS up next for latest CPD session

The latest Falcons Coaching Masterclass takes place at Kingston Park Stadium next Wednesday (September 20) with CARDS the area to be explored.

Standing for creativity, awareness, resilience, decision making and self-organisation, CARDS is the philosophy guiding the development of the next generation of rugby players both on and off the pitch.

Starting at 18:30, the session will be run by Aidan McNulty and will highlight how the Newcastle Falcons Academy uses these principles in the development of the young players with which it works.

Delivered to coaches in the 15-a-side game by members of the Falcons coaching staff and playing squad, the CPD sessions are part of a season long programme which looks at different elements of the game and can be attributed to a coach’s licence.

Further sessions take place in October, November and January at Kingston Park Stadium and will look at tackle technique and safety, coaching strategies and backline attack respectively.

January’s session is scheduled to take place ahead of Newcastle Falcons Aviva Premiership Rugby fixture against Exeter Chiefs and will see England U18s coach John Fletcher joining the club’s coaches for the event.
