Club Connections: Falcons Community Champion of the Month

Monday 23 January 2023 Written by: Adam

Falcons Community is delighted to announce their Champion of the Month is **Jakob Taylor** from **[Stockton Rugby Club][1]**. Jakob is the Stockton U16s skipper, and their current volunteer of the year.

In the Season 21/22, Jakob was undertaking his Duke of Edinburgh Award, and helped support the local grassroots club’s Groundsman, Alistair, as part of the volunteer section of the programme. Unfortunately, Alistair sustained a broken ankle during this period, and Jakob stepped up to undertake all the club’s grounds maintenance. Alongside Jakob’s father, he helped place new showers in the club’s changing rooms and refurbish them all.

For Jakob, it is more about being the Captain of his rugby team, it is about being a part of his rugby family.

Stockton Rugby Club are active members of our Club Connection programme, attending key match day festivals throughout the year and this February, Stockton Rugby Club is helping Falcons Community host one of their half-term coaching camps at their club. Our Club Connection programme aims to help make the community clubs stronger, on and off the pitch.

The programme is sponsored by **[Fusion for Business][2]** who help support sports clubs on their journey to achieve Net Zero through a range of programmes. Their solutions comprise a series of debt free, risk free, cost, carbon and energy saving measures.
