Community Foundation to host girls festival this Sunday

Ahead of Sunday’s Aviva Premiership encounter against London Welsh, the Falcons Community Foundation will be running another of their highly popular pre match festivals, with the focus this weekend being on womens rugby.

Ran in conjunction with the RFU and their Womens Rugby development officer for the North and Yorkshire, Pete Taylor, the U15s festival will see players from Bishop Auckland, Blyth, Morpeth, Horden, Jarrovians, Novos, Rockliffe, Sunderland and Tynedale rugby clubs take part.

With the women’s game growing in stature following the England team’s World Cup triumph in 2014, the festival sits alongside a women and girls strand of the new EHRC Rugby for All premiership programme that the Foundation will be launching in the new school term.

Head of Community & Marketing Melanie Magee said: “We are delighted to welcome the girls to Kingston Park on Sunday. It’s exciting to see the increased interest and participation in the Women’s and Girls game.”

“We hope by celebrating this on the first team pitch at Kingston Park we will reward those who are taking part as well as encourage others to get involved. The Falcons Community Foundation now have numerous programmes to further develop this side of the sport and we hope that we will be able to help to raise the profile of the game at the same time!”

Tickets for Sunday’s game, which kicks off at the earlier time of 2pm are still available and can be booked by clicking [here][1] calling 0871 2266060 or by visiting the Kingston Park Box Office during office hours.
