CPD’s Going from Strength To Strength

Thursday 19 February 2015 Written by: Adam

A busy week for Newcastle Falcons has seen the club’s Community Foundation work to develop not only aspiring players but also coaches from around the region with another of their successful Coach the Coaches Events.

Led by Senior Community Development Officer Gavin Beasley with support from a number of Falcons players and coaching staff, the continued professional development events encourage local community coaches to further their knowledge and tactical ideas in specific areas of the game.

The most recent event, held at Whitley Bay Rockliffe RFC earlier this week, saw Ally Hogg, Kane Thompson and Will Welch host a session focussing on the breakdown.

Over forty coaches from around the area were in attendance at the event which saw the Falcons players work with Rockcliffe players as guinea pigs to run through drills and explanations of the breakdown.

Falcons players and coaches spent time with different groups of players and coaches to explain every aspect of the breakdown, including tackling and clearing out the ruck.

The next Coach the Coaches event will be held at Kingston Park on 23rd March and will be run by Juan Pablo Socino and Attack Coach Dave Walder to focus on kicking. For more information or to book a place at this free to attend event please contact Gavin Beasley on gavin.beasley@newcastle-falcons.co.uk.

Thanks to everyone at Whitley Bay Rockcliffe RFC for hosting this week’s event.
