Cullercoats Primary School Rugby enjoyed a special, tag rugby take-over day in the build-up to the Newcastle 2019 Finals, thanks to the ongoing partnership between the Falcons Community Foundation and First Class Supply, the fastest growing independent Supply Teaching Agency in the North East.

Conducted by coaches from the Newcastle Falcons and Falcons Community Foundation, the day started with a ‘show and tell’ assembly where the children could learn about the Newcastle Falcons and see the Heineken Champions Cup and European Challenge Cup trophies for themselves.

The remainder of the day involved fun and engaging tag rugby activities, where the pupils could enjoy taster sessions led by rugby professionals. Pupils across the school experienced the spirit of rugby whilst working on core skills, techniques and teamwork.

This is the second consecutive year that First Class Supply has donated the tag rugby taster day to the school, with Cullercoats one of over 20 in the region that have received these experiences thanks to the partnership.

Lesley Robinson, managing director of First Class Supply said: “Through our ongoing partnership with the Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Rugby Foundation we are able to facilitate these fantastic sporting opportunities for so many pupils within our region.

“Due to the popularity of last year’s take-over day, we were thrilled to donate another session to Cullercoats Primary School for a second year. These events bring so much joy to pupils around the North East, giving them an enjoyable introduction to a sport that is loved by so many people.”

Gavin Storey, headteacher of Cullercoats Primary commented: “We are really excited to welcome the Newcastle Falcons into our school for a second successive take-over day. This is a great opportunity for our pupils to participate in fun and engaging activities that may produce the next generation of rugby players. Thank you to First Class Supply for once again providing us with this opportunity’”

Melanie Magee, business development director at Newcastle Falcons added: “We are delighted to work alongside First Class Supply to provide rugby-based activities in schools around the North East. Cullercoats Primary School is able to enjoy taster rugby sessions with Falcons Community Foundation coaches as part of their take-over day on behalf of First Class Supply.

“Pupils today are able to experience the exclusive benefits brought to schools by First Class Supply and the Schools Connections programme with their school being selected to host the Heineken Champions Cup and European Challenge Cup trophies as part of the ongoing three-week tour leading to the Newcastle 2019 Finals in May.

“We have a fantastic relationship with First Class Supply and are also looking forward to the annual primary and secondary tag rugby festivals being held at Kingston Park Stadium on Friday 21 June as part of the ongoing partnership.”
