Newcastle Falcons can confirm that Scrum Half Andy Davies has left the club’s Senior Academy after signing a full-time contract with Rotherham Titans.

Having been involved with the Falcons Academy throughout his time at Newcastle University Davies, 23, signed his first professional contract with the club’s Senior Academy after completing his studies last summer and played a significant role in the Falcons’ group victory during the 2014 Premiership Rugby Sevens series.

The Warrington-born Scrum Half spent much of 2014/15 on dual registration with Rotherham, featuring heavily during a season which saw the Titans reach the Championship play-off semi final, whilst also returning to Newcastle to make five first team appearances for the Falcons throughout the term.

Speaking of the move, Falcons Academy Manager Mark Laycock said:

“Andy has been a great servant to the Falcons over the past few seasons and we’d like to thank him for his contribution to the club during his time with us.

“Playing a specialist position like Scrum Half always makes it tough to break into the side but we all wish him well on the next stage of his rugby career.”
