Dawson awarded Rising Star status
Newcastle Falcons senior academy scrum half was recognised at the prestigious Intu Sport Newcastle Annual Awards Dinner on Monday Evening.
18 year old Dawson joined a host of the regions talented young sports stars in being awarded “Rising Star” status at the event held at Newcastle Civic Centre.
The award recognises the impressive start that Dawson has made to his career, having already made his Aviva Premiership debut and having represented England at the Youth Commonwealth Games in Samoa in 2015.
His rapid rise has continued this week as he trains with the Scotland U20s squad ahead of this weekend’s RBS 6 Nations age grade fixture against France.
It was a call that came as a pleasant surprise and one that left the player, in his own words, ecstatic.
“It’s been a very good year so far and the award and the call up are more good pages to add into that book.”
“With Scotland, there’s a full week of training, starting Monday and I’m really looking forward to it. I went to one of the camps before the 6 Nations, where we played against Scotland XV, which is a sort of England Counties set up and they said they had liked what they had seen when I came on. Hopefully I can do more of the same this week!”
