Deano rues Sale loss
Speaking after the Gallagher Premiership clash, the Falcons boss said: “It was a difficult afternoon, and we lost our way a little bit with key injuries to Niki Goneva, Toby Flood and Will Welch.
“We had been going OK early on until we started to rack up the injuries, although you put it into some perspective when you see an injury as serious as the one suffered by Marland Yarde. I really do hope Marland is OK because that looked horrific, but we got hit in key areas and the sin-binnings didn’t help.”
Frustrated by key decisions not necessarily going his side’s way, Richards said: “I’d like the decisions to be consistent but they’re obviously not, and we’re just not getting the rub of the green.
“There were two or three neck rolls underneath our posts which he didn’t see, and he went looking for something else which was pretty innocuous. If that’s the case then so be it, and it just worked out that way.
“We’re not happy with our performance, clearly, and especially so from 30 minutes onwards.
“There’s a certain amount of mitigation there with suffering so many key injuries and then a pair of yellow cards, but we just need to learn what we can from it and draw a line because we have a huge fortnight to come now in the Heineken Champions Cup.”
