Don’t miss next Friday’s all-northern tussle

It’s a battle for the North on Friday March 21 when Sale Sharks visit Kingston Park.

The Gallagher Premiership’s Derby Weekend returns, with tickets and hospitality available for the 7.45pm kick-off.

There was high drama when the teams last met less than a month ago, when a controversial last-minute try handed the Sharks a two-point victory in Salford.

Falcons boss Steve Diamond spent more than 20 years at Sale as a player and coach, and there are a host of former Sharks in the Newcastle ranks, with the likes of Cameron Neild, Connor Doherty, Kieran Wilkinson and Jack Metcalf gunning to line up against their old club.

Sale’s squad could be stacked by a host of returning internationals, with the end of the Six Nations making available the likes of Ben and Tom Curry, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Tom Roebuck, George Ford, Asher Opoku-Fordjour and Bevan Rodd.

The Falcons, for their part, will be looking to translate into the Premiership the kind of form which saw them reaching the semi-finals of the Premiership Rugby Cup, having enjoyed top seeding in the competition.

The return to fitness of centre Sammy Arnold and the free-scoring form of flying winger Ben Stevenson are all weapons in the Newcastle armoury, and you could be there to witness the action on a massive night for northern rugby.
