Durham Victorious In Schools Series Opener
Newcastle Falcons’ 2015/16 school series got off to a thrilling start last Friday when Newcastle’s RGS faced Durham School live at Kingston Park Stadium.
A crowd of almost 800 turned up to watch the game, played on the main pitch of the stadium.
With the score tied eight all at half time, it wasn’t until the final quarter of an hour that Durham broke the deadlock, going over in the corner to put themselves five points ahead.
The lead didn’t last long though, RGS crossing under the posts shortly afterwards and converting to take the score to 15-13.
But their luck wasn’t to hold out, RGS conceding a penalty for offside in the last play of the game and Durham scoring to set the result at 15-16.
Durham were presented with their trophy for winning the game by Falcons Senior Academy player and former Durham School pupil Adam Redman and Academy Head Coach James Ponton.
Friday’s match was the first in a number of school games to be held at Kingston Park Stadium throughout the course of the 2014/15. Keep an eye on the club website for further information.
