England U18s call for Falcons quartet
The camps take place over the next two weekends, with selections for Fletcher (hooker, Newcastle School for Boys), Pepper (back row, Barnard Castle School), Johnson (fly-half, Sedbergh School, Penrith RFC) and Greenlaw (centre, Durham School, Horden RFC).
Newcastle Falcons Academy players, meanwhile, have been back dipping their toes into training after a prolonged absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Academy head coach James Ponton (pictured) said: “It’s really important we maintain contact with our players in whatever way we can, even if it’s just working in small groups.
“The last eight months have been really challenging in terms of people not being able to meet, staff not being able to perform their usual functions and us not being able to use our normal facilities.
“Nonetheless the lads have applied themselves really well, we have a very talented squad this year and while it’s a shame things haven’t been totally operational we’re determined to ensure they still get a high quality of coaching and engagement from us.
“For the lads who are involved with England it’s a great credit to them that they continue to show up so well at that level, and we’re very fortunate to be working with players of great ability at the Falcons.”
