Falcons’ advance to U20s finals
Newcastle Falcons will have two players involved in Saturday’s World Rugby U20s Championship final after Callum Chick’s England and Brett Connon’s Ireland overcame South Africa and Argentina in Monday’s semi finals.
Connon was a late replacement for Ireland in their 37-7 win against the South Amercian’s, with the Falcons’ back converting their final try as the men in green booked their first appearance in the Finals of a World Championship in emphatic style.
Chick returned to the starting XV for England, having been left out of the side that ground out a 17-13 win over Australia in the final group stage game, as he and his team mates blitzed their South African opponents to take the second berth in the final.
England raced into a 31-3 half-time lead and then withstood the Junior Boks attempts to claw their way back into the tie, to take a 39-17 win.
Saturday’s final takes place at Sale Sharks’ AJ Bell Stadium and kicks off at 19:00. Limited tickets are on sale while the match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports
