Falcons Bring Christmas Cheer To Children’s Hospital
Yesterday saw Newcastle Falcons play Santa as the club headed to Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI to deliver presents and spread Christmas cheer.
Thanks to support from Blackett Walker, BW Medical, Barclays and Tesco Kingston Park, the club were able to provide gifts to 100 children staying in the hospital in the run up to and over Christmas as well as chocolates for the fantastic NHS staff working over the festive period.
Players including club captain Will Welch, Alex Rogers, Alex Tait, Ally Hogg, Calum Green, Chris Harris, Eric Fry, Jon Welsh, Marcus Watson, Mark Wilson, Mouritz Botha, Richard Mayhew, Rob Vickers, Sean Robinson, Sinoti Sinoti, Taione Vea, Todd Clever, Tom Catterick, Tom Penny and Will Witty spent the afternoon at the city centre hospital visiting the wards and speaking with staff, patients and their families.
Speaking of the visit Melanie Magee, Falcons Head of Marketing and Community said:
“Throughout the year Newcastle Falcons is heavily involved with work in local schools and communities, but our annual hospital trips are definitely one of the highlights of the season.
“Being in hospital over Christmas is never nice, particularly for youngsters, and if our players and staff can help to brighten that experience then we’re always more than happy to do so.
“We would like to thank all of the nurses, doctors and staff on wards 2,4 & 6 and all of the play staff at the Great North Children’s Hospital for taking the time to show us around the wards and make us so welcome, as well as for their hard work and dedication – especially at this time of year.
“We also must thank Blackett Walker, BW Medical and Barclays without whose support we wouldn’t be able to take gifts out with us on these visits.”
