Falcons chef team enter Chef of the Year competition
Two of Newcastle Falcons’ chefs travelled to the NEC in Birmingham last week to complete against seven other top teams in the final of the Stadium Experience Awards’ Chef Team of the Year category.
Head Chef Alan Minto and chef Darren Barker undertook the challenge as part of a live kitchen event at Hospitality 2015 for the Chef Team of the Year category, which will be awarded at the Stadium Experience hospitality awards in June.
The Falcons are the current holders of the overall Matchday Hospitality Experience award and the award for a small stadium (capacity under 30,000) and are hoping the meal served by the chefs will allow them to add the Chef team accolade.
Chef’s Minto and Barker had one hour to prepare, cook and present a three course menu that would be suitable to be served by Falcons chairman Semore Kurdi to entertain the head of the RFU and chose upon:
• A starter of Pan Roasted North Sea Turbot served in a spiced broth,
• A main course of South Dissington Farm best end Loin of Lamb, rolled with sage and complimented by a vegetable faggot, creamed potato and a red wine jus
• A dessert of Yorkshire Rhubarb served with Apple and Vanilla ice.
The team will learn if they have successful taken the title at the Stadium Experience awards evening in June while hospitality guests in the club’s XV Restaurant at the Falcons v Wasps game on February 20th will enjoy this menu as their dining menu.
