Falcons Greggs Foundation & North Fawdon Primary celebrate World Book Day
The trio of players joined Gavin Beasley and Dan Simpson of the Falcons Community Foundation and Flash the Falcon at the school for a special assembly.
The players first met children who are part of the Greggs Foundation Breakfast Club at the school, who receive a free, nutritious breakfast every school day as part of the programme, before taking to the assembly hall. The Falcons Community Foundation supports the breakfast club at North Fawdon with over 30 pupils benefitting.
In front of the whole school, the three players picked three books from a selection chosen by the pupils before reading passages out to the hall.
It is the second year that the Falcons have been able to join North Fawdon Primary for the World Book Day event and one that the three players enjoyed before heading back to Kingston Park for the day’s team run, ahead tonight’s match against Worcester.
The occasion also marks the start of the second year of Greggs Tackling Health, a programme successfully delivered last year for the first time throughout the North East and Cumbria to 15 breakfast club schools. This year, the offer extends to 25 schools throughout the region and children receive an hour of tag rugby, combined with an hour of healthy lifestyle education.
Greggs foundation will also be joining us at tonight’s Worcester game as charity collectors, and watch out for Hope, the mascot, taking part in the half time mascot race. For more information, or to support a breakfast club, please visit [http://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/][1]
