lready confirmed as leaders of the RFU Championship heading into the play-offs, Newcastle Falcons reached another milestone today when the club welcomed its 10,000th follower on social networking site Twitter.

The Falcons, who also have over 14,000 likes on Facebook have operated on both sites, as well as on business networking site Linkedin, for some time now but have only begun to develop their use of social networking since the start of the 2012/13 season.

Sales and Marketing Director Duncan Edward said: “For us, social media represents a great channel through which we can not only promote the club but also interact directly with our fans.

“To have reached 10,000 followers on Twitter shows just how much attention the club is attracting thanks to continued strong performances on the pitch. However, it also suggests that the work we are doing on these sites is paying off in terms of building our reputation and relationships with Falcons supporters.

> Thanks to everyone who has been in touch through these forums and
> continues to support the club both off and online, and here’s to the
> next 10,000!”

Anyone yet to follow the Falcons on Twitter can do so by searching for the tag @FalconsRugby. The club’s Facebook page, meanwhile, can be found here while business fans can join the Linkedin group here.
