Falcons’ Hitz graduate enjoys Parliament visit
Hamim attended Premiership Rugby’s HITZ programme from September 2015 to May 2016, where he showed a great attitude, determination and set a great example to all fellow HITZ students.
Collecting his award from Julie Elliott, MP for Sunderland and Chair of the All Parliamentary Rugby Group, Ally was also shortlisted for a national award.
He said: “It’s not always about winning. Being nominated has already made me a winner and I appreciate being given such an opportunity to be where I am today. Thank you.”
Melanie Magee, head of marketing and community at Newcastle Falcons, said: “It’s a great achievement for Hamim to be nominated for such a prestigious award.
“He has been a participant on the Newcastle Falcons Hitz programme, which really made positive impact on him.
“He has since gone on to volunteer with new Hitz students, set up his own dance troupe and participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award alongside his college course and taking an active role in his local community.
“I’m delighted that Hamim has been recognised for all of his hard work and determination to overcome extremely difficult circumstances, and is using this experience to have a positive impact on the lives of others.”
