Falcons in Pacific Nations Cup climax
Peterson (pictured), a summer signing from Bordeaux Begles, started for the Eagles in their 34-20 loss, with the game played in the Fijian capital of Suva as part of a double-header.
The other half of the bill saw Fiji beating Samoa 10-3, Newcastle’s Josh Matavesi coming off the bench for the home side while club-mate Logovi’i Mulipola started at loose-head for the Samoans.
Friday’s match in Lautoka saw Tonga beating Canada 33-23, Falcons scrum-half Sonatane Takulua starting the game and kicking all but one of his goals, while fellow Falcon Cooper Vuna came on as a replacement.
At Under-18s level, Falcons wing Matthew Ward scored on his England debut against Argentina in the South African town of Stellenbosch on Friday.
England lost the game 29-19, with Newcastle prop Phil Brantingham also starting.
Both players are named on the bench on Tuesday when a much-changed England Under-18s side takes on France in Paarl (3pm UK time).
