Falcons nominated for Rugby Expo Award
Following the release of the finalists for this year’s 2014 Rugby Expo Awards, Newcastle Falcons are proud to confirm that the club’s Kingston Park stadium is one of three venues shortlisted for the Rugby Venue of the Year Award.
The Newcastle stadium beat off a host of competition from across the UK and Ireland to be selected alongside Ireland’s Aviva Stadium and St Helens’ RL Ground, Langtree Park for the prestigious award.
But having already taken home two national trophies from the Stadium Hospitality Awards earlier this year, the Newcastle Falcons conference and events team will be hopeful of once again emerging as victors from the ceremony at Twickenham Stadium on 22 October.
Newcastle Falcons’ Managing Director Mick Hogan said: “It is really encouraging that the work we are doing on improving the experience for supporters and non-match day visitors has been recognised. Our Conference and Events Team is performing to a very high standard and their work was recognised by recently winning two categories in the prestigious Stadium Experience Awards. We believe our match-day hospitality is up there with the best of any sports stadium in the country.
“The new 3G artificial main pitch has allowed us to connect even more with the local community and it is used seven days a week. Match day at Kingston Park now starts at 9am with junior festivals on the main pitch and finishes two hours after full time when all the supporters have had chance to go on the new surface.
“We will continue to improve our already excellent transport provisions, friendly stewards and recognised good customer service in the ticket office. This nomination shows we are moving in the right direction.”
The new 3G pitch, the hospitality lounges and executive boxes at Kingston Park stadium are all available for private hire. The club also run a series of high demand non-match day events including Gourmet Evenings, Party Nights and Christmas functions.
