Falcons pay a visit to St Oswalds Hospice
Newcastle Falcons’ David Nelson, Tom Penny, Sean Robinson, Craig Willis and Will Witty made a special visit to St Oswald’s Hospice, based in Gosforth last week.
The Newcastle Falcons players took time away from their daily routines to take the chance to meet some of the children and young adults staying at St Oswald’s Hospice, and were given a tour of the facilities.
The tour including the Hospice’s sensory suite, where children have physiotherapy and music therapy.
St Oswald’s provides hospice care to adults, young adults and children from across the North East with no charge made for the service, ensuring care is available for all.
Pat Taylor, Nursery Nurse at St Oswald’s Hospice, said: “Having players from the Newcastle Falcons visit the Hospice has made the children and young adult’s afternoon. It was lovely to see the players greeting and interacting with the children. We are truly grateful to them for taking the time out of their busy schedule to come along to meet some of their young fans.”
Tom Penny and Sean Robinson, two of the Rugby Falcons players who visited the Hospice, said: “It’s nice give something back and visit places like St Oswald’s, We’re lucky to be able to do something we really enjoy, and going to see places like this makes you realise you shouldn’t take things for granted. It was good to see the Hospice in operation today, we didn’t realise how much work goes in to running a place like St Oswald’s.”
