Falcons players visit local children’s wards
Squad members were at the city’s Freeman Hospital on Monday and will visit the Royal Victoria Infirmary on Thursday, a total of 16 first team players giving out toys and spending time with the children.
Newcastle Falcons are grateful to Blackett Walker for their kind donation which has enabled the Newcastle Rugby Foundation to purchase the presents which are being distributed on the visits.
Gavin Beasley, senior community development officer with the Newcastle Rugby Foundation, said: “Christmas is an especially difficult time for children and their families when they are in hospital, but hopefully our players were able to offer a bit of a boost.
“Our squad members always enjoy these visits and have been able to meet some truly inspirational children and families who are coping bravely with genuine adversity.
“Our local hospitals have been extremely supportive in helping arrange these visits for us, and we would like to place on record our thanks to Blackett Walker for their generosity in once again arranging the donation for the presents which have been so gratefully received.”
