Falcons Recruiting Analyst Positions
Newcastle Falcons are currently accepting applications for two full time roles; an Assistant Analyst and an Academy Analyst.
Both successful candidates will work to provide Performance Analysis support to the Falcons’ First Team and Academy respectively.
**Assistant Analyst**
Main Duties and Responsibilities
– Work closely with and support the Head Analyst to provide pre and post-match analysis to coaches and players, in line with club directives.
– Assist in the filming of training and matches.
– Live and post-match coding of all first team matches, providing detailed feedback for coaches and players.
– Assisting the Head Analyst in the creation and maintenance of relevant statistical methods for the tracking of KPIs.
– Responsible for management of the club’s online video sharing website, including collation of all opposition games.
– Creation of high quality presentations using a variety of methods and materials to produce relevant feedback material.
– Provide notational and statistical analysis for key facets of the game as directed by the Head Analyst to highlight key trends in performance.
– Run long-term analysis projects aimed at producing key trends.
– Contribute to the delivery of additional analysis support to personnel within the Newcastle Falcons coaching department, as directed by the Head Analyst.
– Assist in the provision of analysis to the Academy, including filming/coding of fixtures, provided this does not clash with First Team duties.
– Perform other duties as required by the First Team.
Skills & Competencies
– A minimum qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in Sports Science or related area.
– Previous analysis experience within a team environment.
– Experience in the use of video analysis software, including Sportscode, and associated packages to produce information.
– Experience of video production, and knowledge of video/analysis equipment.
– A high standard of organisational skills.
– Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
**Academy Analyst**
Main Duties and Responsibilities
– Attend and record all Falcons Academy fixtures and arrange for all other Academy players teams’ to have their games recorded on a weekly basis (including Rep Teams/University/School/Club games)
– Code all Falcons Academy games in line with Academy directives, including individual player clips that can be used in performance analysis by the coaches
– Code all other games so that Academy players clips can be used in performance analysis by the coaches
– Maintain an up to date Academy player database of all footage across the season for each individual player, including those on the radar playing in local rugby teams
– Provide notational and statistical analysis for key facets of the game as directed by the Academy Manager to highlight key trends in performance
– Manage an online website so players can download and analyse all Academy games, sending out DVDs to people where appropriate
– Liaise with Academy S+C Coach to monitor player game times as well as assist in GPS device set up and management
– Record training sessions as directed by the Academy Manager and provide support to the S+C/Medical department for player movement analysis
– Provide analysis support to the AASE Scheme at Gosforth Academy, including recording and coding all their fixtures as directed by the Academy Manager
– Work with the First Team squad on all required games and training, provided it does not clash with Academy duties
– Perform other duties as required by the Academy

– Experience of video production, and knowledge of video/analysis equipment.
– Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
– Enhanced CRB.
