Falcons Trio line up in U20s RBS 6 Nations
Newcastle Falcons players will turn out for England, Ireland and Scotland this weekend in the penultimate round of the 2016 U20s RBS 6 Nations championship, with Callum Chick, Brett Connon and Ruaridh Dawson all named in the match day 23s for their respective countries.
Chick once again wears the Captain’s armband for England, as they take on Wales in Bristol and look to put their 20-26 defeat at the hands of Ireland behind them.
Fresh from an impressive appearance from the bench in that game, Brett Connon makes his first start of the Championship for Ireland, taking over the fullback shirt, where he has featured for the Falcons in the Aviva A League and Kings of the North Cup this season.
Joining his club mates for the first time this championship Ruaridh Dawson will cap a week where he was announced as one of Sport Newcastle’s rising stars by lining up on the replacements bench for Scotland, as they take on France in Cumbernauld on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, three members of the Falcons set up have been named in the England U18s squad that is preparing for this weekend’s game against Wales in Port Talbot.
Jamie Blamire, Max Davies and Josh Williams have all be included in the squad from which the team will be selected for Sunday’s 5pm kick off.
Speaking about his academy member’s involvement, Aiden McNulty said: “It’s a great opportunity for them to play at an international level and the exposure this brings. They have all worked incredibly hard to be given the opportunity and we are delighted with them earning their just rewards for the hard work they have put in”
