FALCONS TV – Vickers previews Gloucester
Front row stalwart Rob Vickers says Newcastle Falcons will need to contain Gloucester’s ball carriers this afternoon if they are to take an Aviva Premiership Rugby victory at Kingsholm (KO 3pm)
The loosehead prop, who made his first appearance of the season with an 80 minute shift in last weekend’s fixture against Leicester Tigers, believes that the Cherry and Whites have a multitude of threats, but that the Falcons can match them.
Speaking to Falcons TV, Vickers said, “They have huge threats across the field, their back line is very sharp, you have a lot of power up front and in the back there is loads of pace and power and what have you as well so I think it’s a case that we need to be on our metal to contain their strong ball carriers.
“We need to front up and play more of the vein like we have been playing at home. The lads against Sale had a fantastic game and won that one and then we really fronted up against Leicester last weekend.
“The game in between we let ourselves down a bit and I think if we can take our home form on the road with us, I think we’ll stand ourselves in good stead.”
