FALCONS U16S TAKE ON SCOTS
The fixture has become an annual event for the Falcons youngsters in recent years and Academy head coach James Ponton is in positive mood ahead of the game.
“We are relishing the challenge that Scotland will bring,” said Ponton.
“Most of our squad has been together through the Combined Counties earlier this year and spent near enough a season training with us in the Academy.
“There are some really exciting individuals within the group but moreover, as a team they perform very well together. There is a good spread of players from across the region with six Cumbrian based players and eight from Durham.
“Four of the squad made it through to England Under-16s this year, which has not happened at the club for a few seasons, and whilst we are confident going to Murrayfield we don’t underestimate the strength of the opposition.
“They have been in camp together ahead of their International Festival at Wellington College in April,” added Ponton.
