Falcons U18 team named to face Gloucester
Newcastle Falcons U18s are in action at Kingston Park this afternoon, facing Gloucester in an Under 18s Academy League game which kicks off at 2pm.
Academy coaches James Ponton and Aidan McNulty will be calling on their charges to deliver a repeat performance from their last outing as the look to climb the Northern Conference table.
In their last match before Christmas, the U18s traveld to Scarborough RFC to take on their Yorkshire Carnegie counterparts, overcoming determined resistance and a North Sea squall to take a well-deserved 14-17 win.
In today’s team, Jamie Blamire continues as captain from hooker, with Rowan Hall Beasley and Tristan Grant packing down at loose head and tight head prop respectively.
Max Davies and Josh Williams form the second row partnership, while Connor Beswick, Joe Towers and try scorer from the game on the Yorkshire coast, Jack Johnson form the back row.
Charlie Gowling and Ryan Foreman will take the half back spots, with both earning praise from Ponton for their efforts against Carnegie.
Adam Radwan and Ikenna Obonna take to the wings, while Charlie Wilson and Ben Stevenson form an exciting centre pairing. James Elliot will be today’s fullback.
On the bench and ready to make an impact, Ryan Allen, Larry Mew and Scott Merrin provide front row options with Archie Erskine and Lewis Roxby on hand to come into the second or back rows.
Joe Pickering will wear the number 21 shirt while back replacements are completed with Fraser McNee and Tom Briggs.
Spectators are welcome to attend this afternoon’s game, with entry via the Tap & Tackle and seating available in the East Stand.
