Falcons up for Kingsholm double
The Falcons were 21-20 winners in Gloucester on March 3 when the two teams last met in Aviva Premiership Cup action.
The winner of Friday’s semi-final will face either Pau or Cardiff Blues in the European Challenge Cup final on Friday May 11 in Bilbao, Cardiff Blues hosting the French club in the Welsh capital on Saturday at 1pm.
Newcastle and Gloucester have never faced each other in European Challenge Cup action, the Falcons’ 113 matches in the competition delivering 76 victories and 37 losses.
Newcastle have appeared in four European Challenge Cup semi-finals (1998, 2001, 2006 and 2008), and travel to Gloucester in pursuit of their first ever place in the final.
Falcons wing Adam Radwan is the top try-scorer in the competition after dotting down 10 times, while fly-half Joel Hodgson is the Challenge Cup’s most accurate goal-kicker, slotting all 12 of his attempts.
For those unable to make the trip to Gloucester, Friday’s match is being shown on the TVs at Kingston Park Stadium’s Tap & Tackle bar. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
