FESTIVAL ACTIVITY AND VETERANS MAKE THE DAY ON SUNDAY

Monday 13 May 2013 Written by: Adam

The Falcons hosted the annual year three schools tag competition, moved from its usual venue Benton Dene School. The day was a great success with fifteen schools participating in the tournament and over 150 children involved.

The day began at 10 am with the first fixtures. After playing a round of four tag games each the children were invited to watch the nail biting semi-final against Leeds Carnegie.

After the Falcons claimed victory from the hard fought match against Leeds, our local veterans teams took to the field in a three way tournament between Tynedale, Wigton and Consett RFC. The vets game took place between the main match and end of season awards as some light entertainment for the remaining spectators.

The over 35’s gave an impressive performance with twenty minute games and very little rest! Tynedale were victorious with Wigton coming in second and Consett in third place. A great day was had by all and we are looking forward to seeing the participants at another game very soon.

Congratulations to all participants of tournaments on Sunday.
